From Performer to Manger: Orchestrating Boomtown's Spectacles

What began as a captivating walkabout (a panda on stilts) at Boomtown Fair in 2015 evolved into a pivotal role within the festival. In July 2022, I was offered the position of Walkabout and Sideshow Manager.

As the Walkabout and Sideshow Manager, I am the curator of the unexpected. Researching and booking walkabout and sideshow acts, gate entertainment, and pop-up sound systems, my role is to infuse every nook and cranny of Boomtown with an enticing blend of curiosity and creativity.

The Opening of the City Show

In the lead up to the 2022 festival, I assumed a pivotal role in organising the Thursday 'Opening of the City' show. Working closely with the Lead Stage Manager and the Outdoor Performance Producer, I undertook the intricate task of ensuring this grand spectacle unfolded seamlessly. From conceptualisation to execution, my focus was on orchestrating a celebratory show that would set the tone for the festival's immersive journey.

Liaison and Precision

Effective coordination is not just about booking acts; it's about forging connections and ensuring every element works symbiotically. I liaise with diverse talent groups, stage managers, and teams to synchronise the various elements that come together to create Boomtown's unparalleled atmosphere.
